Subject: Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? |
Bible Note: Well, you have my permission to "take me by the hand and lead me to the correct answer." But you seem to want to do it, not by exegesis, but by questions. I'm addled. But, dear heart, did I not prove, by my scenario, that the thief was indeed baptized? A bit flawed perhaps and stretched a tad, but it's as good a proof that the thief was baptized as you're likely to find. Of course, I could have changed it around and as easily proved that he wasn't baptized. Here's how that proof would play out. When the Romans got permission from their Emperor to drag this criminal down from the cross and sent out to Toys R Us (founded by John the Baptist, so I've heard) for a large plastic swimming pool, the Jerusalem Fire Department, upon trying to fill it with water, discovered that it had sprung a leak and wouldn't hold water. But the poor thief died before they could mend the pool and fill it with water, so he wasn't baptized after all. Now this story, like the pool, may very well not hold water either, but it is by no means the only such fanciful tale that has made its debut on the pages of this forum. --Hank |
