Bible Note: Greetings Dalcent! You wrote: "Your comment 'we do not earn our salvation based upon anything that we do, nor can we lose our salvation based upon anything that we do' sure doesn't jump out at me as a statement that mirrors any passage of scripture." I wasn't quoting a particular verse, but in my understanding the concept is certainly present in verses like Eph. 2:8-9, Tit. 3:5, Rom. 4:1-17, and Jude 24. :-) You also wrote: "It requires an interesting interpretation on verses which talk of the last state of that person is worse than before he had believed, 'saving a soul from death' etc." Which specific verses are you thinking of my friend? You wrote: "The mortal sin usually kills the believing faith in its tracks. Your 5th point says something akin to this). Faith will fade right away if you are deeply into the worse sins, even if you go through the motions externally to those in your Church." I don't see the faith as fading as much as I see sin resulting in a hardening of heart. I don't like the term 'losing' salvation. I don't think that salvation is ever 'lost'. Rather, it is rejected - a willful decision on the part of someone who knows better. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
