Bible Note: Greetings Colin! Heb. 10:29 answers this question: "How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?" As I've said my friend, I am not a Calvinist. I do believe that the gift of salvation can be rejected. But, as this verses makes clear, it is the rejection of Christ that causes one to be lost, not an act of sin. I should never sin as a Christian, but if I do, I do not lose my salvation. I didn't and couldn't earn it to begin with. However, I can reject Christ. If I reject Christ, I am lost. I have written some detailed posts on this passage in the past if you would care to read them. Just search for the key words. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
