1 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | LovestheLord | 72538
If the Bible says Baptism is essential to salvation, then why do some believe that Baptism is not neccessary for salvation? Scripture references: Mark 16:16- Jesus said: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved". Acts 2:38- Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Luke 3:21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened up - and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from Heaven. "You are My Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased". I don't want to leave anything out of what Jesus said to do and all the examples of people in the Bible that were baptized, for remission of sins and salvation. Thank you for your responses on this matter. |

Baptism is a symbolic act of faith, being clensed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I do not believe that it is necessary to be baptized in order to be saved by the grace of God. I do reccomend it as it is a very special time in a Christians life. Read Luke 23:39-43. The criminal who is speaking in verse 40 was not baptized. He asked Jesus to remember him when he came into His kingdom. The way to salvation is to recognize our sin and that we are in need of forgiveness. Second we must believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the cost for our sin. Thirdly we must ask for His forgiveness. The criminal did all of this and Jesus promised him that he would be in paradise with Him that day. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, not by acts of baptism or anything else.

Greetings, I have a question for you if you would take the time. Where does the Bible say that Baptism is a "symbolic act of faith?" Why do you say baptism is not necessary to be saved? Peter said that "Baptism now saves you", 1 Peter 3:21. How do you know the criminal wasn't baptized? The disciples of John and Jesus were baptizing many people. Do you know for sure that the thief was not baptized? And why do you say that baptism "is a very special time in a Christian's life? How do you know that Baptism is supposed to be special unless you know the purpose given it by God? I agree with you that we are saved by faith, but without the "fruits in keeping with repentance", the faith is a "dead faith." Good day. |

The thief on the cross was baptized along with every true believer in Jesus Christ, or do you find fault with the following. Ephes. 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: The one that really counts isn’t even wet, it’s dry! CDBJ, A very succinct response. Amen! I think the importance of 1 Cor. 12:13 is often overlooked:"For by ONE SPIRIT we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." A fundamental rebuttal for "requiring" baptism as necessary for salvation can be found in Rom.11:6, "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace." 6 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | CDBJ | 73112
I don’t think that people understand the significance of what John the Baptist said. He was speaking to a crowed of people that contained believers as well as unbelievers and every one there was going to be baptized by Christ, by one means or the other. Matthew 3:11 B he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Rev. 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Rev. 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Now there is an extremely dry baptism! This is going to cause a comment; I wonder if the fire is just sprinkled on them or are they immersed? CDBJ |
