1 | Is sin inherited from father and mother? | Rom 5:12 | sniper | 75587
This is a long thread and I have not read the whol thing. I apologize for coming into the middle of a discussion. I see a simple answer right in Romans 5:12. Death spreads to all men, because all men sin. The sin is not passed on, but each person sins for themselves.
2 | Is sin inherited from father and mother? | Rom 5:12 | John Reformed | 75894
Dear sniper, The fact that all men do sin is proof that they have a corrupt nature to begin with. Our Lord Jesus in His incarnation had a truly human nature also, but He was not a son of Adam, but of God the Father. Therefore, the curse of God which rested on Adam and his seed, did not apply to Christ. Some people stumble because they confuse what is a legal judgement (God's curse on Adam) with biological transmission of sin (father to children). This is a mistake. Jesus is called the 2nd Adam because He succeeded where Adam had failed. That is, He obeyed God to perfection. Now we know as christians, still in this world, we stumble in sin much more than we may care to admit. But legally, in the eyes of God, we are counted as innocent for the sake of Christ. In a very real sense we are "in Christ". Before we were saved we were "in Adam" and Adam's sin was counted against us from conception. John |
