Subject: What was the answer? |
Bible Note: Part 2 "Why did God choose to do it this way I don’t know." God ceased speaking to Saul. Saul chose to seek out the medium...did God know what he would do? Surely...did God tell him to do it? No Did God bring Samuel back? Scripture says the medium called him back. Would God use a medium forbidden by Himself? No... "But I do know Satan can not bring people back from the dead. He might deceive someone into thinking he can by letting you see one of his demons or an apparition, but this passage says Samuel appeared not an apparition." As my husband and I discussed this evening when discussing this chapter in 1 Samuel...when scripture clashes with our beliefs we have two choices, submit our beliefs to the Holy Spirit for correction or disallow the scripture. Your belief that Satan had no authority clashes with the fact that in scripture a woman under demonic authority called back one from the dead and this one from the dead did indeed speak of the future. But a sinner when they are in their sin are under Satan's jurisdiction. When Jesus died and went to Abraham's bosom and preached, Samuel no doubt believed and the authority was broken, but until then he was held captive to death and hell. My conclusion: 1 Samuel clearly states that Saul went to the medium because God has ceased to speak to him. The medium was forbidden by God so God would not have spoken through or used the medium because His own Word forbade it.(For God to violate His own law would make Him a sinner) so the authority the medium used must have been from Satan. The medium called forth Samuel (not an aparition or a familiar spirit). Samuel spoke to Saul reaffirming that God had stripped him of his kingdom and that he and his sons would die the next day. Colossians 2:9-10 "For in Him (Messiah), bdily, lives the fullness of all that god is. And it is in union with Him that you have been made full-He is the head of every rule and authority." In union with Him...we are the body and He is the head, and Satan is under the feet! Out of union with Him? You decide... God bless |
