Bible Note: And if Satan had control why did he allow the spirit to give God's message not one of his own like "Saul your doing great! Your showing God who is in control." Good question....my response would be that Samuel would not lie. This was Samuel, not some denomic imitation. But you bring up an interesting point..If Satan had authority to bring up Samuel's soul but not to control his words... "Before Jesus when a person died his soul went to Hades either to the hot dry side or to Abraham's bosom just as God desired not Satan. After Jesus the unrighteous still do to the hot dry place while we go to be with the Lord again just as God desires." I agree, but if they were not under Satan's domain why did they not simply go to heaven? Why did they have to go to the holding place? Was it because they were still seperated from God by sin? "Your example of the donkey doesn't encourage us to go talk to donkey's so why say it would encourage us to use mediums." My point was more to the fact that God would not do something he forbade us to do. He had options that did not violate His Word. God would not use a medium because He would be contradicting His own command. He would have used some/any other source rather than violate His own Word. "God often uses things that aren't in agreement with Him to accomplish His will. God used a whore Rahab, He used liar and deceiver Jacob. God even used a dying theif hanging on a cross to show us His mercy." Your use of these as examples tells me that you do not understand. God did not 'prostitue' Himself with a prostitute, God did not 'lie' with Jacob, and God was not a sinner dying on the cross. All these people acted on truth...Rahab assisted God's men by faith and her life was spared, Jacob obeyed God's commands and led Israel to victory in the Promised Land, the sinner repented...and was forgiven. The spiritist was not acting in obedience to God but was committing a grave act against Him. " 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. (Whole Chapter: Leviticus 19 In context: Leviticus 19:30-32) Leviticus 20:6 " 'I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people. (Whole Chapter: Leviticus 20 In context: Leviticus 20:5-7) Leviticus 20:27 " 'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.' " (Whole Chapter: Leviticus 20 In context: Leviticus 20:26-28) Deuteronomy 18:11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. (Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 18 In context: Deuteronomy 18:10-12) [Lev 18:21; 2 Kin 16:3; 17:17] He made his son pass through the fire, [Lev 19:26, 31; Deut 18:10-14] practiced witchcraft and used divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD provoking Him to anger. (Whole Chapter: 2 Kings 21 In context: 2 Kings 21:5-7) 2 Kings 23:24 Moreover, Josiah removed [Lev 19:31; 2 Kin 21:6] the mediums and the spiritists and the [Gen 31:19 mg] teraphim and [2 Kin 21:11, 21] the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, [Deut 18:10-22] that he might confirm the words of the law which were written [2 Kin 22:8] in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD. (Whole Chapter: 2 Kings 23 In context: 2 Kings 23:23-25) 1 Chronicles 10:13 [1 Sam 13:13, 14; 15:23] So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD which he did not keep; and also [Lev 19:31; 20:6; 1 Sam 28:7] because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it, (Whole Chapter: 1 Chronicles 10 In context: 1 Chronicles 10:12-14) 2 Chronicles 33:6 [2 Chr 28:3] He made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery and [Lev 19:31; 20:27] dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger. (Whole Chapter: 2 Chronicles 33 In context: 2 Chronicles 33:5-7) And many more....God cannot give commandment then violate it Himself, because violating His commands is sin and He cannot sin.
