Bible Note: Dear Edb, Right from Genesis 1:26 we find that God gave man authority over all the earth and everything in it. Man was to be under the authority and in obedience to God. When man fell, this very act put him in obedience to Satan...this gave Satan authority. (Ephesians 2:2) In Matthew 4:1-11 we see that the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness. If this was truly a temptation, then Satan had to have this authority. If this authority was not in Satan's possession, then Jesus could not have truly been tempted with it as is evident here. Jesus did not come under Satan however, but remained in obedience to His Father instead. Jesus died for us and rose again. He conquered through obedience to His Father. In that He has taken back authority but we yet have to see it all manifest though it is already an accomplished work. (I Cor. 15: 1-29). I hope this is helpful. Itiswritten |
