Bible Note: Greetings Dan! I know that this was not posted to me, but as one who has posted several times on the grammar of Acts 2:38, I must object to your statement. You wrote: "Your silly contortions for Acts 2:38 has as much support as NWT does for John 1. So move on, because you aren't convincing anyone but the naive." I hope that you are not imply that we should ignore the grammar of a verse! :-) To read my position on Acts 2:38, simply search for 'Morant61' and 'Acts 2:38'. I won't repost all of it, but I would simply say that I am not naive. :-) I am trained in Greek and there simply is no comparison between my translation of Acts 2:38 and the NWT translation of John 1:1 If we are to ignore the change in number in Acts 2:38, then we might as well simply ignore the meaning of words and parts of speech as well. Then, we can make the verse say anything that we want. :-( Grammatically, the plural phrase 'for the remission of your sins' cannot be associated with the singular command 'to be baptized'. It is basic Greek grammar. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
