Bible Question:
do we need not to be baptized into water? the actual greek words are different (i don't have a greek keybord to write the word) but the root of the words is to immerse, look specifically at the words used in reference to the scriptures on baptism and let me know if we need to be immersed? |
Bible Answer: Look at Strong's number 907 ... it says baptizo means 1.to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk) 2.to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe 3.to overwhelm It is translated baptize 76 times, baptized once, baptist once, and wash twice. It doesn't mean to immerse always. There are some who are bedridden that cannot be immersed, as well as those where there is very little water who cannot either. Searcher |
