Bible Question:
First let me say I am not attempting to defend the Catholic Church in any fashion, shape or form. My question. Since the Catholic Church grew out of the first century church and later was felt to be in need of reformation, what and when do you feel was the first error that entered the church? Was that error ever dealt with at a later time and what was the result? Second question Without going through all of Luther's points what was the biggest problem and when did it manifest itself within the church? |
Bible Answer: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Peter was the first Pope. Therefore the first error was by the first Pope. Paul opposed Peter on doctrine. Paul was correct, the Pope was in error. GAL 2:11 When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. 12 Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. Technically, this was where the Catholic Church made the first error. But it was corrected. Let us pray that the other errors will be corrected soon. By His Grace.....Jensen |
