Bible Question:
First let me say I am not attempting to defend the Catholic Church in any fashion, shape or form. My question. Since the Catholic Church grew out of the first century church and later was felt to be in need of reformation, what and when do you feel was the first error that entered the church? Was that error ever dealt with at a later time and what was the result? Second question Without going through all of Luther's points what was the biggest problem and when did it manifest itself within the church? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Acts 6:1, 15:1ff; Gal 1:6-9, Eph 2:8 ... EdB, To answer your first question there were divisions in the church early about fair treatment, which was corrected (Acts 6:1). Then some Jews tried to impose their traditions on the Gentiles; where slight corrections were made (Acts 15:1ff). Some were preaching another gospel; where a warning was sent out (Gal 1:6-9). Take your pick on the first error. I think Luther wanted people to know that it was for by grace thru faith one was saved (Eph 2:8), but, others could say another point is more important. Searcher |
