Subject: When did the catholic church go wrong? |
Bible Note: Hi Ed, Sorry for taking so long to notice your comments. I agree with you about organizations having their flaws. We had a cross-dressing president. Shall we then become communists? (Yes I'm being very silly. But your point is still accurate!) I feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It doesn't make them right and it doesn't make them wrong. It's how we feel. We feel and we misinterpret. The Human Factor. Not always good. Which is why the Lord wants us to look to Him! Last Friday I was reading in 1 Corinthians, where Paul is very specific about the last line in your post. Jesus wanted unity. Jesus is our foundation. Then toss in the human factor. OUCH! Jesus never wanted us to run around saying our way is the only way. Jesus wants us to recognize that HE is the way! And tell EVERYONE! Instead we quibble amoungst ourselves just like the Hebrews did in Joshua plotting to go to war because another tribe built an altar. Shame Shame Shame. We need to come together. I'll tell you about one of my closests spiritual friends (not of my denomination) - we used to fight tooth and nail with over dogma. When we put all that aside and devoted ourselves to discussing Our Lord and Savior? Oh, I can't begin to tell you the beauty of it and how deep our friendship is in Him! It's all very interesting how this thread has twisted and turned. Well done to you friend Ed! If you want to see where the church went right, I'd recommend any book my Thomas Merton, spiritual giant. New Seeds of Contemplation, Seven Story Mountain, Contemplative Prayer to name a few. Or Teresa of Avila's book Interior Castle. You might like that one. Guess where our Interior Castle is? Be well, Lisa |
