Bible Question:
Please excuse me for butting in... I may be wrong, but it seems that the underlying question in these "speaking in tongues" discussions is "Does speaking in tongues show salvation"? I just want to point out that none of the "gifts" of the Spirit show salvation. Any lier can fake "tongues". However, the "fruit" of the spirit does show salvation. Remember that the number 1 fruit is Love. It is very difficult to "fake" love as discribed in the Love chapter (1 Cor 13). Any comments? If I am wrong in my assumption of an "underlying question", then please forgive me. Merry Christmas to all, Pastor Glenn |
Bible Answer: Butt in anytime. I do it all the time (smile). The discussion is not on the gift of tongues. It is on the gift of the Holy Spirit If one have the gift of tongues. They can speak at will and have control of their spirit. On the other hand, some (Me) know that when one is filled with the Holy Ghost for the first time. They speak in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance and that the speaker is not in control. This do not mean that they have recieved the gift of tongues but that they have in fact received the Holy Ghost (Spirit) Same as they did at the day of Pentecost. Others disagree. |
