Subject: Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? |
Bible Note: Searcher56 Speaking in tongues is a sign of what is called the infilling of the Holy Spirit or the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. There has been a lot of bad teaching on this and perhaps bad choices of words. When we come to saving Grace through our belief in Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins we are filled with the Holy Spirit. We have Him all not just part. However we still have our own will and it is not until we learn to yield our will to the Holy Spirit that I believe we realize the full power of the Holy Spirit spoken about in Acts 1. I also this is very rare today however many claim to speak in tongues yet have never shared Jesus with another person. To me that is impossible! The Holy Spirit is given to empower us to witness not make us members of some unique club I every case where the person yielded himself to the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues. However there are many, many people that are saved and have the Holy Spirit and have never spoken in tongues and probably never will. However we know speaking in tongues is authentic, it is all through the Acts and Corthinians. We can debate whether it ceased or not but that is not the discussion here. EdB |
