NASB | 1 Corinthians 13:8 ¶ Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:8 ¶ Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away. |
Subject: Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? |
Bible Note: JCsav I think we both are. Peter was used the word baptize here in my opinion to further stress the need for repentance. They needed to symbolically wash pass sins from them, to die in Christ from the sins of the past. Again I see this Baptism as the same one Phillip must have told the Eunuch of in Acts 8 that stirred him to wanting to be baptised. EdB |
