Subject: Two Natures or One? |
Bible Note: Hi, Tim... It reminds me of the laconic pastor who was questioned by one of his new parishioners, "What do you think of sin?" The pastor replied "I'm against it." Nonplussed, the parishioner persisted, "Yes, but what does God have to say about sin?" Without hesitation the pastor said, "He's against it, too." All true, of course, but falling somewhat on the light side of a partial explanation of hamartiology. :-) Squishing Hokema and Murray into one side of a dichotomy or another increases the possibility of the risks I mentioned in post #209921. We could squish Arminius into one side or the other of the question of divine sovereignty and human freedom. We could squish Athanasius into one side or the other of the question of Christ's deity and humanity. Likewise, we could squeeze Paul into entire sanctification versus progressive sanctification. It just involves being fairly narrow about what we are predisposed to hear any of them say. Anthony Hoekema's "Created in God's Image" has under 300 pages. John Murray's "Redemption Accomplished and Applied" has fewer than 200 pages. In Him, Doc |
