Bible Note: Dear Newwine: Welcome to the forum.. The verse you cited does indeed refer to regeneration by washing. However this is not water baptism, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit, by the word of God working in the, heart of the listener to bring about salvation and thus we are "Born Again". Water Baptism has no value in spiritual regeneration. Eph 5:25-27 is a good illustration of this as it shows us how Christ loves His bride, The Church, and washes her with the water of the, Word of God. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the [washing of water with the word], that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
