NASB | Romans 3:4 May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written, "THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS, AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE JUDGED." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:4 Certainly not! Let God be found true [as He will be], though every person be found a liar, just as it is written [in Scripture], "THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS, AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE JUDGED [by sinful men]." [Ps 51:4] |

Bible Note: Greetings John! I understand what you mean! :-) There are obviously parts of Scripture which can only be truly apprehended by those who have been born again. However, the 'words' can be understood even by those who are unregenerate. They just won't 'believe' them until the Spirit opens their eyes. But, since Scripture is written in human language, the words themselves can be understood by any and all. What we need to avoid are those 'theories' which advocate the need for some one to help us understand Scripture. There are those, like Hank mentioned earlier, who believe that it is not study of God's Word which opens up deeper understanding, but some sort of special 'revelation' which God only gives to some. While I do believe, like my theology professor used to call them, in Spiritual 'ah ha' moments, most Scriptural knowledge comes through hard work. Then, there are those who teach that the words of Scripture are ultimately meaningless, and that only certain 'spiritual' people can explain the 'real' meaning. Well, I've got to run!
