Subject: Is healing a guarantee?? |
Bible Note: punkiedo Let me say first I definitely believe that God heals. He has healed me more than once. That said let's look at the Isaiah 53:5 that you says God has to heal. Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. "He was pierced through for our transgressions," When we are in Christ Jesus we have no longer any transgressions, the word says they are as far as the East is from the west from us. They are GONE! However our physical transgressions may remain. For instance if we rob a bank and then get saved are we are still liable for prosecution for the bank robbery, take isn’t removed at salvation. We see this aspect is only “always” true if we are talking about spiritual transgressions. "He was crushed for our iniquities" Again all of our iniquities are gone, God remembers them no more. However our physical iniquities still remain, if we insulted someone before our salvation they are still insulted after, we can ask for forgiveness but the iniquity remains even after salvation. This statement is only “always’ true if we are talking about our spiritual iniquities. “The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him” Well being – This could be spiritual or physical let’s see. When we are saved are we always in a place of physical well being? No, look at all the Christians that have been put to death for their religion. Look at many Christians today that live in impoverished countries. This has to be talking about our Spiritual well being since we know once we are in Christ Jesus all is well with our soul. This statement can only be “always” true if we are talking of spiritual well being. “and by His scourging we are healed.” Healed - are we healed at salvation ? We know our iniquities and transgressions are instantly erased at salvation. We know our spiritual well being is secured at salvation so then what is healed? Is it physical? If it were physical we would see all newly saved people healed and never get sick again yet that doesn’t happen. What does happen? We know their spirit gets healed and it never gets sick again. Obviously we know this statement is only true for spiritual healing. We know God’s word is “always” true and if we take this passage and try to apply it to spiritual aspects it is always true. But if we take this passage and apply it to physical aspects we know in many cases it is just doesn’t happen. Being human and being physical beings we try to physicalize many biblical truths that are only true in the spiritual realm. Context shows us this passage is talking of a spiritual truth the first two items in context are definitely spiritual, the third could be either but is only ‘always’ true when applied to spiritual conditions. Therefore for us to take the fourth item is say it applies to physical healing is ripping it out of context. Further more we know it is not always true if applied to the physical realm but is “ALWAYS” true if applied to the spiritual realm. I think you do scripture, us and yourself a disservice trying to apply this passage to anything physical. EdB |
