NASB | Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. |
Subject: Is healing a guarantee?? |
Bible Note: Dear EdB: You have outdone yourself! That was an excellent, well-balanced, and scripturally based answer. I marvel at so much emphasis being placed these days on physical healing and wonder whether it is at the expense of relegating spiritual healing to a secondary position. Are we not in need, like the Samaritan woman at the well, to be taught how to drink at the fountain of living water that springs up into everlasting life? (John 4:14). --Hank |
