Bible Note: Justme Be assured you are in our prayers. Both my parents have preceded me home. They has asked their Pastor to do their memorial service (thank you Jesus). In doing it he painted a word picture that I will never forget. That of our loved ones standing as if at an airport awaiting the arrival of the flight carrying their loved ones home. They look expectantly at the arrival board to see when our flight is due. Since time is meaningless in heaven our loved ones await what seems to be short period of time for our arrival. From those words I picture my parents standing there awaiting not the lost we equate to dying here on earth but in joyful anticipation of glorious reunion in heaven. Hebrews 11:13-16 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. [14] For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. [15] And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. [16] But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. EdB |
