Subject: Divine Healing? |
Bible Note: Jesified Your explanation of Paul’s thorn is the flesh sounds good but does not hold up to close scrutiny. Paul said he was given something to keep him humble, what would keep you humble? How about a debilitating illness that effects you personal appearance? Paul once again referred to this in Galatians 4 Galatians 4:12-15 I beg of you, brethren, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You have done me no wrong; 13but you know that it was because of a bodily illness that I preached the gospel to you the first time; 14and that which was a trial to you in my bodily condition you did not despise or loathe, but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus Himself. 15Where then is that sense of blessing you had? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. He gives us even more evidence of an ongoing eye problem in his summation of Galatians by saying. Galatians 6:11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. We also know other faithful followers were sick Philip. 2:25-27 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need; 26because he was longing for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 27For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left sick at Miletus. 1 Tim. 5:23 No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments. If a Christian is never to get sick then why would God include a holy prescription for healing in the book of James? James 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. You asked where does it say Timothy was sick. 1 Tim. 5:23 which I posted above. One last parting thought every Christian up to this point in time has died of some disease. And every Christian from this point in time until the Lord returns will died from some disease. You might want to check the medical records of some of these men that have taught you this nonsense. Their actual medical records do not correspond to what they claim. I know even some that have traveled out of the country to get medical treatment so they would not be discovered. You suggested a book to read in one of your earlier posts. I have read it. Now I suggest you read Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraaff. I did what you asked now you do what I ask be sure to read all the footnotes. EdB |
