In Genesis, God gave man(Adam) authority over the earth. Genesis 1:26-28 Prior to this time, Satan ruled here. When Adam sinned, he returned the authority to Satan. Satan actually did still have authority here until Jesus took it back. Acts 2:24 Colossians 1:9-13 9 For this reason also, (21) since the day we heard of it, (22) we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the (23) knowledge of His will in all spiritual (24) wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will (25) walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, (26) to please Him in all respects, (27) bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 (28) strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; (29) joyously 12 giving thanks to (30) the Father, who has qualified us to share in (31) the inheritance of the saints in (32) Light 13 For He rescued us from the (33) domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of (34) His beloved Son, God bless |

Hi Ed, At this point I retract my statement that Satan had authoritity on the earth before Adam. And will do more research before returning to this thread to post my conclusion. However, on the statement that Adam surrendered authority to Satan has much scriptural basis, and that Jesus the Christ took back the keys to death, hell and the grave and gave authority to men is the Gospel. But I do not have time to address them at the moment. The scripture already posted will have to suffice for now. To narrow the field of discussion, what is your view? God bless |

You assert 'that Jesus the Christ took back the keys to death, hell and the grave' has much scriptural basis. Does it? Is there a clear verse of Scripture to indicate that Christ took back the keys or that Satan had ever taken possession of the keys? In the entire King James Version of the Bible, the word "key" appears in 6 verses. The word "keys" appears in 2 verses. Thus, "key" and "keys" appear a total of 8 times in the KJV. This is ALL the Bible has to say about key(s). Jud 3:25 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. Isa 22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. Lu 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. Re 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; Re 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. Re 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. Mt 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Re 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. |

Graceful That was Radioman2 that gave you the scriptures not I Ed. I think the medium was use to dealing with "familiar" spirits, when Samuel appeared she was very surprised. I think God had Samuel to appear not because of the Medium but because God was still dealing with Saul. I might imagine the Medium might even have changed after that experience. EdB |

Yes, I realized later that radioman had responded. Yesterday my attentions were divided and that is not a good time to get into a 'deep' discussion. Forgive me for the error. I do not agree with your conclusion because 1.God could have spoken to Saul through other prophets,(or a donkey) scripture says Saul sought this. 2. For God to choose to use a medium which He has forbidden places Him in the position of compromiseing His word and also would make the statement that He communicates through mediums encouraging people to seek them out. This would be a violation of God's own command NOT to seek mediums. The medium was not a prophet of God, but rather a servant of Satan at the time. Whether she turned or not later is not stated. This occcurance clearly conveys the message that Satan had authority to beckon souls from the dead because they were still under his jurisdiction due to the fall of Adam. Although they died in faith, until Jesus redeemed them, they were held captive. God bless |

gracefull: You write: "Satan had authority to beckon souls from the dead." Other than 1 Samuel 28, are there any passages that clearly indicate this is true? If so, what are the scripture references that support this idea? Moreover, could you give scriptural support for the idea that the souls of men (dead or alive) were under the "jurisdiction" of Satan? As we all know, Satan is not the warden down in hell, running the place. Thank you for your help. Grace and peace to you. Radioman2 |

"As we all know, Satan is not the warden down in hell, running the place." Paraphrase 'Satan in not the warden living in hell, and running the earth.' Is this a correct rendering of your statement? If so my response is this.... How do you describe principalities, powers, and the rulers of darkness... Yes indeed Colossians states that all were created by God for His purpose...but that does not mean they do not have delegated authority. Odviously they do because it was necessary to 'deliver us from their dominion'. God bless |

Graceful Satan isn't running the world, God is. Your quote of Ephesians 6:12 would best be concluded, it really says Ephes. 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. This passage is saying we aren't in a physical battle but rather a spiritual battle being waged in the heavens. It certainly isn't saying Satan has control of the earth, or of dead people or their souls. Where are you getting this teaching? EdB |
