1 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | EdB | 80314 | ||
Graceful You said “I agree, Satan is not omniscient. He does not know all things. If he had known he would not have crucified the King of Glory. But again, you are speaking to the conflicting belief that the medium called a familiar spirit and not Samuel himself who did know.” First Satan did not crucify Jesus we did. Jesus went to the cross for our sin. Jesus allowed Himself to be place on the cross. Secondly you say he was talking to Samuel and Samuel did know. How did Samuel know he was dead? Are you suggesting that God informed Samuel of Saul’s death but never intended him to use that information. Doesn’t that seem to conflict with 2 Peter 1:20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, Therefore we have to surmise if God did tell Samuel this information, God intended Samuel to make it known to Saul. If Samuel was dead then God had to intend to bring Samuel back from the dead to tell Saul this. You asked why the woman shrieked because she knew instantly that Samuel was from God therefore this had to be Saul who had God’s hand upon him. Remember David when chased by Saul refused to touch him in his own defense. Why because he said thou shall not touch God’s anointed. You never addressed the fact that God did use an unrighteous prophet Balaam to prophesize blessing on Israel. Also please read 1 Kings 13 you will see that God used another false prophet to prophesize truth. It is a very interesting story, one which give you a lot more to think about. EdB |

"Secondly you say he was talking to Samuel and Samuel did know. How did Samuel know he was dead? Are you suggesting that God informed Samuel of Saul’s death but never intended him to use that information." Now here you have a valid point. If Samuel had only stated that Saul hadlost the kingdom, he would have been repeating what he already knew before he died. but no doubt God told Samuel that Saul and his sons would die. I also have no doubt that God knew Saul would seek the medium...but I can't accept that God would violate His Word and empower the medium to call Samuel forth. And these scriptures do not state that God called Samuel. It says she called him forth. "You asked why the woman shrieked because she knew instantly that Samuel was from God therefore this had to be Saul who had God’s hand upon him." No, I beliee she feared for her life. It does not say she was afraid of Samuel...Or God.. You never addressed the fact that God did use an unrighteous prophet Balaam to prophesize blessing on Israel. Also please read 1 Kings 13 you will see that God used another false prophet to prophesize truth. It is a very interesting story, one which give you a lot more to think about." I did read both of these today. Never the less they were both prophets...failed and weak though they were...they were not demonic soulmates whom God commanded to be killed as noted in other spriptures and forbade any to seek out as I posted earlier. If God had performed any miracle by any other means other than one strictly frobidden by HIMSELF which would be a violation of HIS WORD I could accept your theory...But if God forbids us to commit sin and then commits sin Himself...He would not be God...That would be the same as commanding us not to commit murder but going out and committing murder Himself and saying it was OK because He is God. My next area of research will be to look at all the scriptures pertaining to mediums and see what else God had to say. God bless |

Graceful God didn’t perform anything He allowed what the medium wanted in sin to manifest. The medium was still in sin the fact that she got the real Samuel instead of one of Satan’s demons doesn’t not change that fact. Saul was in sin asking for the medium to tell his future. God simply allowed to sinful people to get what they thought they wanted. Saul was looking for assurance that he would prevail and that God was with him. The medium thought she would bring forth a lying spirit that would tell Saul he would live long and prosper and she would be rewarded. Suddenly God revealed both their sins by manifesting Samuel which brought conviction to the medium thus she shrieked and to Saul for seeking the medium in the first place. Tell me you don’t see the same thing in 1 Kings 22:20-22 "The LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this while another said that. 21"Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' 22"The LORD said to him, 'How?' And he said, 'I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Then He said, 'You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.' If you read 1 kings 13 as I asked you to read you saw the same thing happen again. The old prophet lied. God said if the prophet lies he is to be stoned. God then used that same lying prophet to tell the young prophet of his death. Surely you can see the similarity EdB |
