Actually there is a diference between pouring and sprinking. Pouring tended to be the more commonon Catholic method with infants at the time. Sprinking tends in Catholic circles to be restricted in practice to deathbed baptisms of the sick. Pouring was and is also the normal practice for the Anglican Church after the split with Rome. To add to your point, the Catholic Enclyclopedia points that "immersion was unquestionably" the earliest practice, i.e. the New Testament pattern. Good day. |
