Scripture ... Mar 7:4, Luk 11:38, Heb 9:10 Did you look up all the references of baptizo? Read these three ... Mark 7:4 "And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables." Are tables dipped or immersed to clean them? Luke 11:38 "And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner." Are we dipped or immersed before we eat? Hebrews 9:10 "Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation." The refers back to the Old Testament washings were signs pointing to the washing away of our sins by Christ's atonement. Searcher |

Look at Strong's number 907 ... it says baptizo means 1.to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk) 2.to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe 3.to overwhelm It is translated baptize 76 times, baptized once, baptist once, and wash twice. It doesn't mean to immerse always. There are some who are bedridden that cannot be immersed, as well as those where there is very little water who cannot either. Searcher |

Very interesting spin I see here. You write, "There are some who are bedridden that cannot be immersed, as well as those where there is very little water who cannot either." And this is proof that a command of Christ doesn't have to be obeyed by all? Do you say that because some don't have vocal cords, such is is proof that Christians don't have to sing? How interesting are your hermeneutic skills. Please tell me more of this new thing! There are some who are poor so giving isn't necessary for any?!; There are some who have no ears, so the hearing is not necessary [that's right, you've already stated that you believe this]; There are some... Oh I could go on, but you see, it just doesn't work! But I do enjoy hearing from you. All of my best wishes to you. Disciplerami |

If you ignore the Greek, you're study of the Bible will fall short. Since I believe baptism is washing ... the bedridden and those where where there is very little water, can both be washed. Is singing a command? Yes, we should give, even if we are poor. |
