In addition to the Book of Hebrews which contrasts the superiority of christianity to Judiasm, we also have the Book of Romans which clearly describes just how totally inadequate the Law of Moses really was. See below. Rom 4:13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. Rom 4:14 For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified; Rom 4:16 For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, Rom 6:19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification. Rom 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. Rom 7:5 For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. Rom 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead. Rom 7:23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Rom 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Rom 8:3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, Thus in spite of the opinions you offer from other men, we see Apostle Paul with divine inspiration puts down the Law of Moses and the whole system of Judiasm as it was totally inadequate and is now obsolete. How do you reconcile your position about the OT in contrast to Paul's teaching as cited above? Blessings to you, dear friend. Country Girl |

Greetings Country Girl! I'm not Kalos, but may I add my two cents? :-) Paul did not 'put down the Law'. He put down the misguided attempt to be saved by obeying the Law. The Law served its purpose perfectly - pointing out our sinfulness and bring us to Christ. The Law still serves the same purpose as it did in the Old Testament. It was never meant to, nor could it, save us. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Maybe "put down the Law" is a little harsh. I was trying to make a point in the contrast as shown by Romans and Hebrews. Yes, I agree with you. The Law did and still does show us as mankind how we are totally lost without God's Grace and His Son's blood. I must go back to my main point of emphasizing the authority of the NT over and above that of the OT. Appreciate your correction. Blessings to you, dear friend. Country Girl |
