Personal profile for user screen name: bstudent I believe we are living in the "last days" and the following verses are having fulfillment:"Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand." (Dan 12:9,10) Most seem unaware that, although Jesus did say "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father," he also said that his true disciples should "learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door." Because the majority would not be on the watch, but rather be preoccupied with the world of which he warned to be no part, they would suffer the fate of the ungodly in Noah's day. (Matt 24:32-42) He wouldn't have gave a sign if the 'season,' even if not the day or hour, were not to be identifiable. Since Satan is "the god of this world," all must be aware of how to identify the truth from lies. Jesus counseled that 'by their fruits you will recognize false prophets." (Matt 7:15-20) As the first fruit of holy spirit is love, Jesus stated: "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35) Elaberating on this identifying mark of true Christians, John wrote: "By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous. Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."(1 John 3:10-15) Allegiance to Caesar cannot trump allegiance to God, causing us to kill our brother for whom Christ died. Friendship with Satan's divisive, nationalistic world is enmity with God. (James 4:4) But yet we must fight the fine fight of the faith with the equipment provided: spiritual armor and the sword of God's spirit, his word. (Eph 6:14-17) "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor 10:4,5) Completely competent, fully equipped for every good work, Christians need to put first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. (1 Tim 3:16,17; Matt 6:33) Only then can we be assured of our own salvation. Thus all Christians are commissioned to preach as clearly understood at Matthew 28:19,20. This preaching is on the theme of Jesus' preaching: the Kingdom. We therefore must thoroughly know what this kingdom involves. Jesus warned not to pray the same thing over and over, not even knowing what we are asking for when we pray "may your kingdom come." (Matt 6:7,10) Therefore, the kingdom and what it will accomplish, namely the sanctification of God's name and the vindication of his rightful sovereignty challenged by Satan, is the focus of my ministry.
