1 | Individuals seeking, expecting tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140397
I have not done so. However, individuals do seek the Holy Spirit whether it says so or not. Who did I tell to seek for the Holy Spirit? I told them to obey what Pete said in Acts 2:38 and there would be no need for this discussion. This is a bible forum, not a Church. We are discussing "Tongues" because of a question that was Asked (If anyone can remember what that was). However, Martin Luther said it best: "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Truth of God except precisely that little point that the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages is where the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." |

2 | How is tongues evidence? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140403
I believe do not understand what it means to obey Acts 2:38. You bring up tongues and it is not there. It is there BEFORE Peter spoke Acts 2:38, not AFTER, so how is tongues evidence of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as the result of "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins"?

What is the BEST evidence of the fullness of the Spirit? Ephes. 5:18-21 (ESV) "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit," with the EVIDENCE of "[19] addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, [20] giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, [21] submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ." Pentecostal (Assemblies of God) writer Ralph M. Riggs wrote: "The BEST evidence of the fullness of the Spirit is A CHANGED LIFE" (emphasis added). ____________________ "The Spirit Himself", by Ralph M.
