1 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140350 | ||
There may be an outward manifestation ... for me there wasn't one, just relief in my soul. Where does the Bible say "Baptised OF the Holy Spirit" ... emphasis mine. You changed the Word ... Acts 1:5, 11:16 says WITH not BY ... and it was addressed to the apostles. Read the context. "For BY one Spirit we were all baptized" (1 Cor 12:13) ... again the word isn't OF ... and the context does list tongues and other gifts - plural(vs 4). Gift in Acts 2:38 is singular. |

Greetings Searcher56! Just to throw a monkey wrench into the works, the question of whether baptism is 'of', 'in', 'with', or 'by' the Holy Spirit is a tough one! :-) The preposition used can mean any of these. Context can help, but sometimes it is difficult to determine whether or not the Holy Spirit is the agent of baptism or the medium of baptism. ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
