1 | jcsav, What does does Acts 2:41 mean? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 142589
If the 3000 didn't receieve the Holy Spirit, what does Acts 2:41 mean "So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls." You said "I never said that speaking in other tongues was a KNOWN language of the listeners or not." ... but I have proven the Bible says speaking in tongues is always a known language to a listener. The word "unknown" is not in the original - KJV added the word. Poto and Cabengo did speak in a LANGUAGE only they knew. Linguists said they did speak in a language ... but have declared what Pentecostals speak IS NOT a language. Linguists also know of other accounts where children have developed their own language. |

If the 3000 didn't receive the Holy Spirit,(remember that is not what I said, I said , the bible) it would mean what it says. You can be added to the visible Church by believing (and yes you can believe and not receive the Holy Ghost) but you can not be a part of the invisible (Body of Christ) until you recieve the Holy Ghost. If Poto and Cabengo did speak in a Language only they Knew. This is not the Holy Ghost (Spirit) so why listen to them. Listen to Paul and the other Apostles. Paul says that the speaker do not understand. The Spirit gives the utterance to speak. It do not come from ones own brain. |

Very interesting that that brain is not included ... does that mean speaking in mindless when the Holy Spirit is invovled? What about the other spirit gifts ... and the writing of the Bible?

I did not say God do not use the brain. I meant that the utterance comes from the Holy Ghost and not oneself. God spoke through a donkey. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Do God make use of our minds, yes that is where our spirit is (not physically). But he don't need to. What can your mind add to God? Did those who wrote the Bible always understand what they wrote?
