How about Romans 10:9-11 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." Then there is Acts 2:38 which speaks of baptism but that is speaking of water baptism. And then there is these that basically say it but perhaps not in as many words. John 3:15-21 (NKJV) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. [16] For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. [17] For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. [18] He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. [21] But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." John 3:36 (NKJV) He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." John 5:24 (NKJV) "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 6:40 (NKJV) And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:47 (NKJV) Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. John 11:25 (NKJV) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. Acts 4:4 (NKJV) However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. Acts 10:43 (NKJV) To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Acts 16:31 (NKJV) So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Romans 1:16 (NKJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. EdB |

Hello jcsav, Regardless of who the audience of Romans 10:9-10, the truth of it remains--believe and confess with the result of salvation. You cannot prove Acts 2:38 means Spirit baptism. The Jews listening would have had no difficulty understanding that Peter was speaking about an outward sign of water baptism demonstrating their repentance. Steve |

First of all the audience matters very much. There is a diffence between a regenerated heart and one that is not. Second I can show you that what Peter says in Acts 2:38 Do include the Spirit baptism. Acts 11:16-17. |
