1 | Two Natures or One? | Rom 6:6 | BradK | 209948 | ||
Hello Newwine, Since your post is rather lengthy and poses numerous questions, might I ask for clarification on a couple? 1. You note that, "At this point the washing of regeneration sure sounds like baptism, "If it walks like a duck" Can you clarify or elaborate your understanding of Tit. 3:5? It would appear you uphold baptismal regeneration? 2.You state, "I have looked, I cant find any scriptures for the doctrine of Regeneration. It may sound nice, but that doesn't quite fit my criteria for a doctrinal belief." Are you denying the work of regeneration? What is your "criteria" for a doctrinal belief? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hi BradK:: Thanks for the interest. It is true I do uphold baptismal regeneration, but I feel more comfortable saying Born Again. Because I do, I feel that this also answers questions 1, and 2 . But because you asked for an elaboration, the "washing of regeneration" spoken of in Tit. 3 to me says baptism. Have a Blessed day Your Brother in Christ Nevvvvine |

Dear Newwine: Welcome to the forum.. The verse you cited does indeed refer to regeneration by washing. However this is not water baptism, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit, by the word of God working in the, heart of the listener to bring about salvation and thus we are "Born Again". Water Baptism has no value in spiritual regeneration. Eph 5:25-27 is a good illustration of this as it shows us how Christ loves His bride, The Church, and washes her with the water of the, Word of God. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the [washing of water with the word], that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. Eph 5:25-27 [Brackets] added for emphasis God bless John |
