2 | How does one know their faith is real? | Matt 7:21 | hopalong | 186948
As an immature believer, I would look to my profession of faith and agonize over whether or not my faith was genuine. In other words, I was looking in the wrong place for my assurance. I no longer look to my faith; rather I look to the object of my faith, Jesus Christ. He is my righteousness. He is my assurance! Luke 18:13 "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' Luke 18:14 "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." Hopalong |

3 | Experience is evidence? | Matt 7:21 | Lookn4ward2Heavn | 186993
That still fails to answer the question. Here is how I see it: Assurance seems to have no bearing on maturity or immaturity; certainty is certainty. Either you have assurance or you do not. If my father, when I'm 13, promises to buy me a car when I'm 21, without any conditions and I believe him, my maturiaty or immaturity has no bearing on the promise and, therefore, is irrelevant. It neither proves nor disproves that the car will be given. As such, I fail to understand how experience or growth can give any evidence of salvation and thus give be any form of assurance. Therefore, the question still remains unanswered: How do I know for sure I am saved? Or, another way to put it, how can I be assured now that when I die God will take me? |

4 | Experience is evidence? | Matt 7:21 | Salvation72 | 187020
Read John 3:16, John 14: 6, and Romans10: 9 - 13. You will see that Jesus Christ is the only way into Heaven. If you believe that God sent His only begotton son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, that He rose from the dead on the third day, and pray and ask for forgiveness of all your sins , and ask Jesus into your heart and life as your own personal Lord and Savior you will be saved. There is no second guesses, no way of our own works, it is only through Jesus that we recieve the free gift of eternal life in Heaven.
5 | Experience is evidence? | Matt 7:21 | Lookn4ward2Heavn | 187080
That "Jesus Christ is the only way into Heaven" is not being questioned; assurance of salvation is. It is one thing to know the way, another thing to know that one is truly in the way, and still another to know that one will never go out of the way. |
