1 | Assurance based on performance? | Matt 7:21 | Lookn4ward2Heavn | 186777
Hi AF, 1. If I do this, I will live. Is assurance, therefore, grounded on performance and a proper performance at that? 2. If so, how then does one know they are loving God with all their heart (if the heart is deceitful), all their soul (if the soul is corrupt), all their strength (if they are weak), with all their mind (if the mind cannot subject itself to God)? |

2 | Assurance based on performance? | Matt 7:21 | stjohn | 186818
Hello L4W2H, Thats the whole point! you cant! No-one can! None are good, no, not one! You can't keep the first commandment, never mind the rest of them! You see my friend every religion in the world is based on works, i.e. what you do to get yourself fixed up, so you can measure up, to God. problem is, you cant measure up to an all holly God. Compared to Jesus, the only one who ever lived a life as a man, and lived it without sin, anything that we can do is like filthy rags! Compared to Jesus there is no way we can stack up! If you think you can stand before God, with a handful of good works, and say look here God, Look what I did! pretty good, huh? Do you want to risk that my friend? Not me! Jesus Himself says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Sounds pretty good huh? Do want Jesus? He's asking you? Do you? Why don't you quit messing around and take Him at His word my friend? He is not a lier, He is not crazy, He's real, and I 'know' He's real, and so do untold myriad of people throughout the ages. Huh? What are you looking for? How are you going to know how something tastes, unless you eat it? Christianity is not a religion, its a way to life! God bless. John |

5 | Experience assures salvation? | Matt 7:21 | Lookn4ward2Heavn | 186988
1. Therefore, feelings/experience give evidence of salvation? 2. What about those who felt Jesus and after some years fell away? From your analogy, it seems we must assume they were genuine believers. 3. If it is suggested that those in the example above were not true believers in the first place, that is, their feelings/experience has deceived them into believing something that is not true, how can another be assured that what they have tasted is the real thing? |

6 | Experience assures salvation? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187050
Too much going on in the head. Take that mind captive to Christ and trust in Him. Romans 10:8-10 "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. |

It does not seem that the questions are difficult to understand. In addition, if genuine faith requires an assurance that one is saved, it is not unreasonable to expect an answer; moreso, and answer would be vital.
