1 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | John Reformed | 42216
Dear Arnie, I'm convinced that we are saved by grace thru faith alone. Of course if a person says he's a christian but misuses the Word of God as an excuse to sin, I would be unsure if his salvation was real. God Bless Arnie, John Reformed |

Dear John, Faith alone? In James he says that works are required with faith. What kind of "works" would these be, certainly not our ideas, but the standard that was given by God.
3 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | John Reformed | 42235
Dear Arnie, The works that we do are an assurance of the faith that God has given us. If a person says he is a christian but has no works, that is an indication that his faith is a dead faith. Even the works of a true christian are ones that God has prepared for him to do already. Eph 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Read Galatians, as I suggested, it explains in depth why we are saved by faith alone. John Reformed |

Dear Arnie, Gal 2:16...nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified. Gal 2:17..."But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? May it never be! Gal 2:18..."For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor. Gal 2:19..."For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. Gal 2:20..."I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Gal 2:21..."I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly." I believe that because of our love and gratitude toward our Lord Jesus and through the grace of God we will desire to be obedient to all of the commandments. But thank God we will not be judged according to our ability to keep them. Regarding the sabbath I believe that Jesus is our sabbath rest and not any particular day of the week. Col 2:16,17...Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. Hi John, I say "Amen" to your statement: believe that because of our love and gratitude toward our Lord Jesus and through the grace of God we will desire to be obedient to all of the commandments. But thank God we will not be judged according to our ability to keep them. The problem I find is if we don't try to live by the commandments just exactly as God has given them to us, men will keep them in the manner THEY THINK they should, which means they will ultimately justify not keeping them at all. Satan in the Garden of Eden deceived Eve and Adam by telling half truths, Telling Eve that if she ate of the fruit of the tree she wouldn't die (false) that she would become like God, knowing good and evil(true). We should obey God in the manner He tells us, not be deceived into beleiving half truthss, We indeed will fall short, but we never give up nor make excuses for our selfs, we dare not CHANGE HIS PRICELESS WAY OF LIFE. Dear Arnie, You wrote:The problem I find is if we don't try to live by the commandments just exactly as God has given them to us, men will keep them in the manner THEY THINK they should, which means they will ultimately justify not keeping them at all. Those who deliberately twist scripture to suit their evil desires are false bretheren (Weeds that satan has sown among the wheat). This problem you wrote about is solved by learning the New Covenant that God has placed us under. We have been set free from the bondage of the law and are now to walk after the Spirit. The love of Christ constrains us. We are new creatures! Old things hae past away. We have not been set free not to sin but to serve Christ. The Law has been summed up for us. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and stregnth and your neighbor as yourself. That is enough to keep us humble and seeking the grace of God everyday for the rest of our lives. God Bless Arnie, John |

Dear John, The Sabbath Day must be REVEALED to us, just as it was to Israel on Mt. Sinai, they forgot it when they became slaves in Egypt. The Sabbath was never given to the Gentiles. Once it has been REVEALED to us we simply keep it as He REVEALS it to us, don't add anything to it, (as the Pharisees did) BUT DON"T TAKE ANTHING AWAY FROM IT. (As ones carnal nature wants to do). When called the Spirit leads us into all truth, we just need to keep that which we receive from the BEGINNING. Hold on to that which you received from the beginning. To DEVIATE in any manner from what we have been given is to CHANGE THE REVEALED TRUTH we have been given. IF WE LOVE GOD we will OBEY that which He gives us. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. KJV John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. KJV 2 Tim 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. KJV 1 John 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. KJV 1 John 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. KJV Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; KJV |
