Bible Question: does that mean we shouldn't pay tithes and offering that is under the Old Testament law? |
Bible Answer: Not as a law. The Christian lives by the law of love and gives from the abundance of a loving heart has God has prospered him. The tithe some use as a rule or guide but it is not a Law. In other words, no christian is condemned by God or called unrighteous if his bank records show he did not give 10 percent of his income. He is the righteousness of God by faith in Christ and he can grow in how to give as the Lord teaches him. He will want to give because of the cause not becuase of the law. He will want to give to the cause, such as helping poor saints or helping send a missionary to the Congo. The saint who's heart is filled with love will give without a law. The law of love leads the saint in all areas of obedience to Christ. Those that love the Lord will worship HIm in spirit and in truth every day and not just on the sabbath. The saint that knows the Lord keeps sabbath everyday. |
