Buffalo: There are several problems with suggesting a "personal Sabbath." First of all, God instituted a particular day for the Sabbath in the Old Testament, and the historic Christian understanding is that Sunday is now the Christian Sabbath. There was never any room for picking your favorite/most convenient day and naming it your own Sabbath. Seondly, while we are not saved BY the church, we are most certainly saved INTO a church. God did not ordain a loose confederation of Christian "free agents" who have the right to "have church at home." That is simply a contradiction in terms, because the church is not a service, but rather a body of believers, the bride of Christ who has been called to function together for the spreading of the kingdom of God. If you are not connected to a local congregation which faithfully encounters the word of God, fellowships with one another, participates in the Lord's Supper and baptism, and practices church discipline; then you are not in God's will for your life. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." --Hebrews 10:23-25 Can one be saved without church attendance? Sure, but it is pretty clear that one cannot be truly a follower of Jesus Christ apart from active ministry within His church. One's spiritual gifts are not for himself/herself, but for the church. When one neglects to participate in the ministry and fellowship of Christ's church, the church is actually ROBBED of something. Every believer in Christ is an important part of the body of Christ. Read 1 Corinthians 12. We are indeed justified as individuals, but we are members of the body, not able to function effectively by ourselves (whether we will admit it or not -- 1 Cothinthians 12:15-16). Pursuit of Christ-likeness is intended to be in the context of His church. I would encourage you to pray about it and obey God in this manner. The cost may be high, but the rewards are greater. --Joe! |

Hello Joe, May you find love in the words of a very small man. Kindly read Mark 2:27,28 Mark 2:27 - And He said unto them," The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:(28) Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath." The sabbath is made for man, because Jesus knows and understands the burdens placed on man to be in the existence of the corruptible flesh. In all your words, not once have you said to read the Bible in depth. I have always thought the way to God's will was to read the letter He wrote to each of us and repent with a sincere heart to be healed by Him. But, now the answer for my soul appears to be in the hands of men in a church building, socializing and seen by men(called fellowship), practicing church discipline, faithfully encountering the word of God. If the church had been doing what it is supposed to be doing, don't you think all the world would know the true religion?, don't you think we would steal have the ten commandments and prayer in school classrooms? Isn't it obvious that those responsible for feeding the children the nutrients of the Living Water have been failing and continue to fail in mans pursuit of Power, Greed, Envy and Jealousy. These words are in humbleness and the Spirit of Love that I reach out to you and ask you to seek Love which is freely given at no cost. The only thing being "robbed" is the souls of the children of the Living Water who are gasping in the smoke screen of the prince of the power of the air and those that are with children and give suck in these days because they are still childish in their understanding of the letter from their Father because they want "God via drive thru",they are seeking for truth and receive answers that sow to the flesh and not the Spirit which feed right into satans lies and deception. You say be baptized, but the church fights over the right way to baptize. You say participate in the Lord's Supper but do I drink grape juice or wine?, what if I'm an alcoholic? I am confused by which is right because the church is always fighting amongst themselves, but the Bible says God is not the author of confusion. Remember the song," You can't buy me love", well its still true and always will be true, you cannot buy Jesus, but you can read the letter about Him with the sincerity of your heart, and following the 2 great commandments, which are His will. I am sorry but I have always believed we are to comfort one another through the burdens of the flesh, and not make a brother feel insufficient or guilty because he works on Sat. or Sun., but to tell him that the most important thing is to read the Bible, which helps him to be cleansed by the Word of God(Eph 5:26, the true cleansing comes from within by the Word of the Living Water) and teaches him through the Holy Spirit of how to sustain and endureth the filth he is surrounded by and teaching him that faith, hope and love(being the greatest) are what the true Jesus has in His mind and for us to know and study towards. The righteous seek no rewards and give love freely as it was given to them at no cost but give love through the sincerity of their heart. Perhaps if those of the church would draw themselves to repent and get off the horses it would be done, I do pray constantly that the Father frees the hearts, so people can wake up and look within the hearts of all. Feed the children the Living Water in love and they will listen if they are of the sheep fold belonging with Iesous. Peace, casiv |

Casiv: If your read my posts, I think you will come to the conclusion that "read the Bible in depth" goes without saying. I cited Scripture several times in my post. Yes, the two great commandments are his will: "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets" --Matthew 22:40 (The Law and the Prophets includes Sabbath-keeping) The rest of your post, I am afraid, has absolutely nothing to do with anything I said. --Joe! |
