1 | Sunday or Saturday? | Col 2:16 | djconklin | 25408
"The original question was "What is the true worship day, Sunday or Saturday?"" However, the devil lies in the details and here we are looking at specifically at Col. 2:16-17. What does it say about Sunday? --- Skipping the sarcasm; "I truly can't see that you have made a conclusive statement on this issue." I have said it a number of times; let's try it again in a different way: THIS VERSE DOES NOT CONDEMN SABBATH-KEEPING AS IS COMMONLY CLAIMED. IT ISN'T EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBTH IN THE FIRST PLACE. Hmm-m-m, capitalizing definitely does help it to stand out. |

2 | Sunday or Saturday? | Col 2:16 | Searcher56 | 25415
Scripture ... Exo 20:8-11; Acts 13:14, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4, 20:7; Col 2:16-17 djconklin, It appears that the early church gathered on either day. However, our thought on the activities of the day we gather has been twisted. It is to be a holy day, not a holiday. My question to you is what do you do on the day set apart? Also, could we have our holy day Friday 6pm - Saturday 6pm (Jewish Sabbath) and go to church on Sunday? Searcher |

3 | Sunday or Saturday? | Col 2:16 | djconklin | 25513
As I understand the Bible the Sabbath runs from sundown to sundown not 6 to 6 (after all they didn'thave clocks in the Garden of Eden or in most, if not all, of the OT. I liked your very careful choice of words: "the early church gathered on either day." But, that isn't the question; the question really is on which day should we worship God? Col.2:16-17 is NOT talking about the seventh-day Sabbath or Sunday. Acts 20:7 was simply a meeting on Saturday nite because Paul was leaving the next day (i.e. he was traveling on Sunday but not the Sabbath because to him it was still holy). Thanks for the texts. |

4 | djconklin, Worship on Sabbath in Bible? | Col 2:16 | Searcher56 | 25619
djconklin, do you know where the Bible says we are to worship on the Sabbath? Israel was commanded to make it holy (Exo 20:8-11). That is not the command to worship ... even if you define worship as gathering together. Searcher |

5 | djconklin, Worship on Sabbath in Bible? | Col 2:16 | djconklin | 25649
It was assumed in earlier texts; but,in Leviticus 23:3 it says "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings." Note the words "holy convocation". |

Does convocation mean worship? If so please support this. S
7 | djconklin, Worship on Sabbath in Bible? | Col 2:16 | djconklin | 25673
In the Hebrew the word for "convocation is "migra" and means "sacred assembly"; the LXX translates it as "holy calling".
