Nineveh did what? Should you have hit note instead of question?

I must have selected the wrong option button. I meant to hit note. Well, since my intent was not that obvious I will state it a little clearer. My intent is to stir up the forum a bit :-) on the question of Ninevah's repentance found in the book of Jonah. Did Ninevah change God's mind through their act of repentance or did God determine all along that Ninevah was going to repent and decided to dupe Jonah into thinking that His judgement was coming immediatley? Tough question that has come up in many of Sunday School classes. |

My opinion is that God changed His mind when Ninevah repented. Remember He changed His mind when talking to Abraham about sparing the people in Sodom too, kept going 50, 50, 30, 20, then couldn't even find 10. But I believe God can change His mind.
5 | Ninevah did. | Rom 1:18 | Reformer Joe | 20526
That would mean that God either made a mistake, or doesn't know what we will do. Careful...open theism is an ugly heresy which poses one of the biggest threats to evangelicalism today. Incidentally, God never changed his mind about Sodom. He said that IF ten righteous people could be found it would be spared, knowing all along that ten such individuals did not exist. --Joe! |

I tried posting yesterday but kept getting cannot display so...anyway, Rom 8:28. We may make mistakes but God can still bring good out of them. :)
7 | Ninevah did. | Rom 1:18 | Reformer Joe | 20641
Norrie: I agree and will go a step further: God, already knowing what those mistakes will be, has already woven them into the fabric of human history, which will ultimately glorify Him! --Joe! |
