1 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | New Creature | 142197
Hey listen. I'm not gonna get into a big quarrel about this with anyone. I personally believe that God still speaks to us. He spoke to me, and He has spoken to others. How do you think a person hears a calling upon His life to go into the Ministry. if God doesn't speak to people. How do you think that those God calls to far away mission fields know that they are called by God to become servants in the mission field unless they spend time alone with God in prayer, in communion, and in His word with Him in private. How shall they preaach unless they are sent? (Rom. 10:15) Do you think those God calls into a Ministry postion, enter the Ministry on a mere whim or fancyful thought? His Spirit even bears witness with my spirit that I am His. (Rom. 8:16) |

2 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | justme | 142206
New Creature: I too would agree with you that God does speak to us. Not only by His Word, but the inner voice of the Holy Spirit. You and I agree that often His call to sevice is clear as the voices that are audable, but loud and clear to the point our soul within us has no doubt the Holy Spirit has spoken. I do believe that the primary source of the Lord speaking does come to us by the written Word of God. However, I can state that the voice of the Holy Spirit has spoken to me giving me a warning on one occasion, an instruction to go at once at nidnight to visit my Dad 300 miles away. When I arrived several hours latter my Dad was close to death, and I drove him to the hoppital with little time to spare. I believe with all my heart the Lord called me to prepare for ministry, and to ministry. My belief is that God can use dreams to direct us as well. When My wife and I were on our honeymoon we were asleep, and the Lord spoke to me in my sleep and told me to "wake up our time to die was not now". I woke up and carried my wife outside the cabin, it was on FIRE! The problem is that we had better be very sure that we are walking with to Lord so we are not led astray by the wrong voice of the evil one. One way to be sure is the Holy Spirit will never voice something against Scripture. The real proof is in the results, did what you were told come true, was what was said come to be? If not then that was not the voice of tyhe Lord. I wonder if Joseph wondered if what he heard about Mary was really of the Lord? What id Joseph did not go to Egypt as he was told to do in a dream? Do we think the Lord can not use the same ways to reveal Himself to us today? If we are closed to the voice of the Holy Spirit then we can not expect to be receptive if He does Speak to our inner soul with a non vocal voice. Any thoughts? Blessings. justme |

3 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | New Creature | 142241
justme I truly enjoyed your reply In communicating with God, we prayerfully study and mediatate upon His word. We cannot know God's will for our life, if we neglect His word. After having spent time alone with God in prayer and in His word, we then remain silent and patiently wait for God speak to us. God oftentimes guides us by His Spirit. His Spirit speaks to our spirit, and we know that we have heard from Him, when it agrees with His word. Like you said: If we don't remain receptive to His voice, then how can we expect Him to guide and leads us. One last thing Not only does God guide us individually, but He also speaks to us and guides us corperately, IF we have ears to listen. RevĀ 2:7,11,17,29;3:6,13,22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches The church of which we are a part must also have a ear to hear what the Spirit is saying in our day. |

4 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | justme | 142273
New Creature: Thank you for speaking the truth in love. I do respect those who might not have had the same experience as you or me. However at the same time I do not regard myself as special in any way. Infact perhaps from the Lord's point of view I may be so hard to get the message accross to He has to speak loud and clear for me to hear. I have found the Lord is able to get His message through even if he has to use a donkey. Blessings. justme |
