Isaiah 53:5 says by his stripes we are healed. If this is talking about physical healing then every person would instantly be healed upon salvation just as they are instantly saved upon salvation. If that were true then one would wonder why God included James 5:14 If anyone is sick let him call for the elders... We also see many faithful Christians that are sick Paul in Gal 4:13, Tropimus as you mentioned in 2 Tim 4:20, Epaphroditus in Philippians 2:26, and Timothy in 1 Tim 5:23. However James 5:14 tells us that healing is available to us and that we need to ask and to have faith. We also know that not everyone is healed and the answer to that question is not known to us. However we are given this assurance in Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Many Christians let their physical situation overshadow their spiritual situation both in fact and in importance. God is far more concerned with our spiritual well being. This should be our pattern, our lives are short lived. A physical healing no matter how great or how miraculous will only last as long as the person lives. However the spiritual healing spoken about in Isaiah 53:5 will last for eternity. I heard a quote from a great Christian man that recently died of cancer. When his doctor told him of his cancer he praised the Lord. The doctor was taken back and said you have any idea of what your saying? The man replied, “Doctor, we all are going to die, that is enviable, my destination is certain and I am just a little more aware of my time and the preciousness of the remaining time God has given me to accomplish what I can for his glory.” Should we pray for healing? Yes absolutely! Should we have faith for a healing? We must! Is our healing promised? Yes but in God’s timing and according to His plan and His purpose. However it might be through the ultimate Christian healing, which is our home going. As Christians we should live for the day we are in the presence of the Lord not to extend our lives here, a place tainted with sin. EdB |

Greetings EdB, You know, sometimes when we write here at the Forum and get no feedback, it is worse than getting negative feedback, simply because we don't know if the answer was received, ignored, accepted, or thought to be way off base, or whatever.. "The great silence" that follows many of my posts is deafening, and sometimes causes me to doubt whether or not I really am spending my time here wisely or not. But I wanted to take the time and join in with a few others in saying "Well done, EdB!".. That way, you will have no doubt whatsoever that what you wrote hit the nail right on the head! Makarios |

The Holy Spirit not my brilliance penned an answer that spoke to you. So I thank you for the affirmation that what I wrote spoke to you but I give the glory for that accomplishment to the Holy Spirit. Makarios rest assured many of your post speak to me like wise. And I thank you for all that you have spoke into my life. But most of all I thank you for you yieldedness that you allowed the Holy Spirit to use you to effect me in a positive way EdB |
