Subject: Are new worship songs scripturally OK? |
Bible Note: Scripture ... Exo 33:10, 34:8; 1 Sam 1:3; 2 Chr 29:28; Neh 8:6 ... LisaMarie, In all the verses that you cited, the Hebrew word for worship is shachah (Strong's 07812). It means to bow down, prostrate oneself before superior in homage. There are activities related to worship: -stand up from what position you were in first (Exo 33:10) -bow low without the homage (Exo 34:8) -sacrifice are related to, but not worship it self (1 Sam 1:3) -some sang while others worshiped (2 Chr 29:28) -The Taknah was just read, the people were blessed, said "Amen, Amen!" while lifting up their hands, THEN bowed low aand finally worshiped (Neh 8:6) Also, praise is related to worship, but they are two different activities ... the same is true for service. Most have mistaught about worship. I have done an extensive study on worship. If you want my paper, send me an email @ sbuttle@qwest.com. Searcher |
