NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Subject: WHO pays the wage? |
Bible Note: Where I stand on the matter of salvation by works? In half a verse? ...faith working (ENERGEO) through love. (NASB) ....faith activated and energized and expressed and WORKING through love. (AMP) NOT by faith alone, we only find that once in the Bible: James 2:24 (ESV) You see that a person is justified by works and NOT by faith alone. I don't care what the central tenet of the Reformation was, it's no Holy Cow to me. I prefer the Biblical texts to medieval backsliders. Dalcent |
