NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: Following the new birth there remains within us the carnal nature prone to sin, however, if our sins past present and future are covered by the shed blood of our Savior and they are no longer in view of the Father, are we not in the same relationship with the Father as Adam and Eve before the fall? |
Bible Answer: Who pays the wages? Sin does. Romans 6:23 :: Amplified Bible (AMP) "For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord." Sin pays the wages. Sinners receive the wages. Romans 6:23 :: Contemporary English Version (CEV) "Sin pays off with death. But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord." Sin pays off. Sinners receive the payoff. Romans 6:23 :: New International Reader's Version (NIRV) "When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done." The pay you GET -- not the pay you PAY -- is death. |
