NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: Following the new birth there remains within us the carnal nature prone to sin, however, if our sins past present and future are covered by the shed blood of our Savior and they are no longer in view of the Father, are we not in the same relationship with the Father as Adam and Eve before the fall? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Allegro! I know that many people subscribe to "don't ask, don't tell" everything's done in Jesus... Jesus did die for all sin once and for all--it is He that needs not face sin and the consequences of sin ever again... we on the other hand are not God! Our world is the realm of Satan and he will fight till the bitter end the disrupt God's Plan of Salvation! John tells us that if we are of the Light there is no darkness (sin) in us... yet he also tells us that if we claim to be free of sin we are liars! It is Jesus who can cleanse us if we confess our sins! If we simply tell the "store-keep" to keep an open tab cause we have unlimited credit... we would simply be acting as the foolish servant who keeps thinking that his Master will not come back or that he can clause his way out of it if he is ever questioned about his rampant rebelliousness and misuse of authority!
