Bible Note: Doc But I do believe we must strive to keep the commandments as best we can and trust in the Blood of Jesus to cover those we fail upon. I truly believe we are called to holiness. I understand Jesus died for our sin but I don't think that gives us a blank check to do as we please. The commandments should be the standard we live by, but not what we trust in for our salvation. So Jesus' commandment to the rich young ruler folds in with the rest of scripture. If we try to isolate it to mean something else apart from the whole of scripture we find ourselves discussing scripture not as what it is but we want to become a text book. I also find it unbelievable that someone thinks they can live outside the commandments and remain a Christian. The Holy Spirit should be making us so uncomfortable in our sin that ignoring Him would be impossible. If we are not being convicted to the point of distraction then I would question ones salvation to begin with. That is how I would deal with that error from my tradition. :-) EdB |
