Bible Note: Another question: If it is acceptable in your tradition to derive doctrines from narrative, then how do you know when you've gone too far? For example, Matthew 19:17 Christ says to the rich young ruler that to be saved he must "keep the commandments." I do not think that you would use this as an example of how to evangelize.
