Subject: Did Jesus die spiritually? |
Bible Note: Dear mommapbs, I been thinking about the question you posed, which concerns whether or not Jesus had to suffer spiritual death for the atonement to be consistant with the penalty. The arguement, as I understand it, is that if the penalty imposed upon Adam and his seed was "spiritual death", therefore, Christ, as our substitute, would have had to experience spiritual death as well. One of the problems that arise from this arguement is that all who suffer this penalty, suffer it for all eternity and without hope of reconcilliation with God! The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated on the Throne at the right hand of The Father: Luke 22:69 "But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power OF GOD." Before I continue, I would be interested in your response. God Bless, John |
